‘They Rolled Us!’ RNC Committeewoman Rages After Trump Loyalists Ram GOP Platform Through Without Debate

Republican National Committee member Gail Ruzicka fumed that pro-Trump loyalists “rolled” the organization’s platform committee without debate in the push to adopt the new GOP platform in Milwaukee on Monday.

The platform was passed with an 84-14 vote, signaling strong support within the committee for what is the most comprehensive platform update since 2016, heavily influenced by former President Donald Trump’s vision for a second term.

“This is his platform,” asserted Lara Trump , RNC co-chair and daughter-in-law of Trump.

The platform, now awaiting full adoption at the Republican National Convention next week, outlines a bold agenda . It calls for the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, protections for Social Security and Medicare without cuts, and significant federal funding cuts for schools promoting “critical race theory” and “gender ideology.”

On Monday night, however, Ruzicka — a Utah-based conservative activist and pro-life delegate — spoke briefly to a WISN 12 News reporter as she left the meeting as he asked about what happened at the closed-door meeting.

Stunned, the RNC committeewoman said: “This has never happened before. I guess I’ve done this several times. There were no committees. We always had subcommittees where we can go in and work on a section of the platform. We can propose amendments, debate them, add them. Always happens. I’ve done it many times. that would usually take today and then tomorrow we would come back and meet as a complete platform and sometimes there’d be more amendments. They didn’t allow any amendments. They didn’t allow any discussion. They rolled us. That’s what they did.”

She added: “We only spent thousands of dollars to be here. And what we think they told us they were going to do isn’t what happened. None of it. None of it happened. I’ve never seen this happen before. I don’t understand why they did it.”

Speaking with Fox News on Tuesday, Ruzicka, repeated her anger at the party leaders for “railroading” the platform through and specifically protested changes to the party position on abortion. The new platform removed the call for a constitutional ban on abortion from the platform for the first time in 40 years and now reads that the party only opposes “late term abortions.”

She said: “I want something that says the unborn baby has a fundamental right to life that can’t be infringed. That’s pro-life and that’s not in there. If we had met we could have made some little fixes and ended up with everybody happy instead of just railroading this through and not giving us a chance to read or amend it.”

Despite Ruzicka’s criticism six pro-life groups voted to enforce the new RNC platform.

Michael Whatley , Chairman of the Republican National Committee, defended the platform and emphasized discussions around its formation and strong majority support: “We had plenty of votes, we had plenty of discussion on it. We feel very, very good. We had an overwhelming vote in support of the platform.”
