Former President Donald Trump was rushed from the stage of a Pennsylvania rally Saturday after an apparent assassination attempt.

A Trump spokesman later said that Trump "thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility."

Wisconsin's Congressional delegation, Wisconsin's governor and others began weighing in on Twitter.

Milwaukee city and police officials did not immediately respond or did not have information early Saturday evening about what the incident means for the RNC , which begins Monday in downtown.

    Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson

“There’s no space, absolutely none, for this sort of violence in America.

“No one should be shot – not like this.  Not kids, not churchgoers, and not a candidate for President of the United States.

“We must demand peace, whether it is in the political sphere or in homes and neighborhoods everywhere.”
