(The Center Square) – Former President Donald Trump plans to announce his vice-president pick later today at the Republican National Convention.

Less than two days after surviving an assassination attempt, Trump will announce his choice in Milwaukee at the Republican National Convention. Trump has repeatedly teased the announcement for weeks.

"He did confirm that he's going to make a VP choice today," Fox News reporter Bret Baier said.

Sens. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., along with North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, are among the potential frontrunners for the post.

On Sunday, Trump confirmed that his convention plans were on track.

"Based on yesterday's terrible events, I was going to delay my trip to Wisconsin, and The Republican National Convention, by two days, but have just decided that I cannot allow a 'shooter,' or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, his social media platform.
