Accuweather writes,  “Storms could impact outdoor tents and equipment at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee .”

The weather in Milwaukee for the balance of the day includes heavy thunderstorms late in the day with flooding downpours, hail, and damaging wind gusts.

These storms have started to visit the Midwest frequently in the last two months. As of July 5, there have been over 1,100 tornadoes this year, about double the 30-year average for the same period.

    Record Tornado Season

According to the National Center for Environmental Information, at the end of June,” The 2024 year-to-date U.S. preliminary tornado count is 1,250, which is third place behind 2011’s 1,398 tornadoes and 2008’s 1,303 tornadoes, for the same January-June period.”

There have also been large and damaging hail storms brought on by the same extremely warm weather. Bloomberg reports,” On May 9, hailstones the size of baseballs pummeled San Marcos and Johnson City, Texas, taking down power lines and cracking car windscreens.” The news service said this was not an isolated incident.
