Donald Trump Jr. ripped into an MSNBC reporter at the Republican National Convention, growing so frustrated he told him to “get out of here.”
MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff caught with Trump Jr. and his brother Eric Trump at the RNC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Trump Jr. dismissed accusations that his father former President Donald Trump is a “divisive figure” in the wake of an assassination attempt over the weekend.
“I don’t think he was a divisive figure at all. I think the media created divisiveness around him. They lied about Russia, Russia collusion, they said he was a traitor, they went after him in every which way possible,” Trump Jr. said. “If the media actually starts being an honest broker, talking about the things that he did, the prosperity he brought, the peace deals that he signed around the world rather than the disaster we’re living right now, I think you’d do everyone in the country a big favor.”
Soboroff and Trump Jr. then came at odds when the reporter asked if there would a a “second” round of family separations when deporting illegal migrants, something that is central to Trump’s campaign.
“It’s MSNDNC so I expect nothing less from you clowns even today,” Trump Jr. said, referring to a nickname his father often uses for MSNBC. “Even 48 hours later, you couldn’t wait, you couldn’t wait with your lies and with your nonsense, so just get out of here.”
After dismissing the reporter, Trump Jr. waved him off and went back to watching the convention.
Donald Trump was struck in the ear on Saturday in an attempted assassination attempt. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Crooks , was killed by Secret Service, but not before getting multiple shots off, hitting the president, fatally wounding a rally goer, and injuring two others. Trump flew to Milwaukee shortly after the shooting for the convention and announced Sen. J.D. Vance (R-PA) as his running mate .
