When the Republican National Convention hits full stride in Milwaukee, we could see a whole new side of former President Donald Trump.

Following a failed assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, Trump is considering a different approach at the RNC "by toning down his Trumpiness," Axios reported.

And it's not just for the optics. Trump's change of heart seems genuine, according to former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who is set to speak at the RNC.

"I think it's real," Carlson told Axios. "Getting shot in the face changes a man."

Trump said he's preparing a "whole different speech" for the RNC in the wake of Saturday's attempt on his life. In his first interview since Saturday's assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania, Trump told the Washington Examiner that he had prepared a "humdinger" of a speech focusing on the Biden administration, but "threw it away."

"Had this not happened, this would've been one of the most incredible speeches," he said. "Honestly, it's going to be a whole different speech now."

Instead, Trump's speech will focus on unity.

"This is a chance to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together," he said. "The speech will be a lot different, a lot different than it would've been two days ago."

Trump is set to deliver his nomination speech on Thursday night.
