U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Waco) traveled to Milwaukee this week for the Republican National Convention. Following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, he said political rhetoric in the country has gone too far.

Sessions said he was glad to see security at the RNC beefed up after the shooting.

"When you have a person who is without question the leader of the Republican Party and someone can sneak in as a sniper within 130 yards off of an operation that is supposed to be seamless and clear, it raises lots of questions," Sessions said.

He added that he believed Trump was the best candidate because of his border policy.
