Delegate Diary: '... the best day ever.'

For the first day of the convention, we began with a wonderful breakfast at the resort and a very enlightening and passionate speech by Dr. Ralph Reed. Dr. Reed went over some of the platform topics and stressed the importance of voting for President Trump. We boarded the bus at 11 a.m. with delegates first. I am a whip, and so we needed to be in the arena and ready to go early.

As we boarded the bus, a Homeland Security agent checked bags and ensured that all was well. He rode the bus with us to the arena.

We got off the bus and promptly into a long line to go through security. The security folks had dogs that walked the lines and all bags were checked and we were wanded as well. I thought they did a wonderful job.

Once in the arena I met up with our region whip team rep, got my beautiful neon yellow hat and got our assignments. The added job has been great and makes me even more proud to be part of this process.

We are on a break now — but we now know that the VP pick is J. D. Vance. We are all thrilled. I didn’t hear one utterance of disapproval. We are united now more than ever.

I haven’t had a snack since breakfast so I’m going to run find something to eat. I will say this is my version of the best day ever. Spending time with legends like Newt Gingrich, Randy Evans and more just makes it perfect!
