(The Center Square) – Former President Donald Trump made his first public appearance Monday at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee since he was grazed in the ear by a would-be assassin's bullet at a campaign rally Saturday in Pennsylvania.

Wearing a bandage on his right ear, Trump was greeted with thunderous applause by delegates and other supporters inside the convention hall Monday night. He was shown on live feeds listening to the convention's first-day primetime speakers, often standing and clapping in support.

Trump survived the Saturday attack and pumped his fist in the air, yelling "fight, fight, fight" after being led out of the venue with blood across his face by Secret Service members. The assassination attempt, which led to the death of a spectator, was captured on live video and iconic photos of a bloodied, defiant Trump went viral across the world.

Despite the attack, Trump said the RNC would go on as scheduled.

Earlier in the day, he named U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance as his vice presidential running mate.
