CNN’s Adam Kinzinger Trashes RNC, JD Vance with Stephen Colbert — Declares Moscow ‘Celebrating’ Right Along with Milwaukee

CNN’s Adam Kinzinger joined Stephen Colbert on Monday evening and trashed the Republican National Convention , declaring that Moscow is “celebrating” the event right along with actual attendees in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Kinzinger, a former Republican congressman who is now a CNN senior political commentator , said he last attended the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in 2016 and it was then that he knew “MAGA” had taken over the party. Kinzinger explained he expected to only see a few red hat-wearing Trump loyalists amongst the crowd, but reality turned out to be fairly different.

“I remember showing up to Cleveland and all of a sudden I’m looking around the room I’m in everybody’s got MAGA hats on and I realized at that moment, this is not the Republican Party I remember,” he said, recalling feeling “not very welcome.”

The former congressman insisted his party turned on him long before he earned Donald Trump’s ire by serving on the congressional subcommittee that investigated the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, saying he earned backlash because he refused to “pledge allegiance to a man.”

“Is this the Republican Party or the Trump Party at this point?” Colbert asked after bringing up the Republican National Convention.

“Well, it’s the party I recognize of the last seven years,” Kinzinger said.

The CNN commentator specifically called out the choice of Sen. J.D. Vance (R-PA) as Trump’s running mate .

“They are celebrating that choice both in Milwaukee tonight and in Moscow. J.D. Vance is the one that has said, ‘I frankly don’t care what happens in Ukraine,'” he said, referencing a Vance comment from 2022 and accusing the senator of pushing “Russian talking points.”

Vance has argued in favor of negotiating a settlement between Ukraine and Russia as the former continues to fight off an invasion.

Kinzinger laid into Vance even further, accusing the senator of having “no moral soul.”

“He is a guy who was an anti-Trumper , then all of a sudden is the biggest pro-Trumper,” he said. “He has no moral soul, no center, and how you can like Russia and what they’re doing in Ukraine is beyond me. I think it was a terrible pick for the president.”
