Delegate Diary: Day 3 — Cobb is on my Mind

Editor’s note: The following is a report on the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from delegate Salleigh Grubbs, chair of the Cobb GOP.

As I woke up this morning, I certainly had Cobb County on my mind. I am enjoying my time here, but I am also homesick for Marietta. Having just lost my mom on July 7th, I have run non-stop and haven’t had a moment to really grieve. You see, when you’re a Republican and from Georgia, it’s a family. It is the best of the best. And they are here for you. I have been surrounded by friends and hugs and love — and I can’t help but think that if Mom had to go, she left me in good hands not only with my family but with my GOP family. You see, even if we sometimes disagree — we can always be there for each other.

Last night here at the convention, Nikki Haley spoke as well as Ron DeSantis. Despite the theme of the day being “Make America Safe Again,” the real theme in my heart was truly unity. Despite not being particularly a fan of either one, I thought that they both did a fantastic job of supporting President Trump and getting behind his plan for America. All of the speakers were superb, poignant, thought provoking and good ole American. Even though some were non-natives, they embodied the true American Spirit and gave great reasons why our border crisis needs to be addressed.

I say this about Haley and DeSantis — partly because no matter which candidate you supported as a Republican in the primary, it’s now time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their country and vote for President Trump.

Now — as to Cobb County. The text I awoke to said, “while all of y’all are in Milwaukee, Cobb is burning.” That got me in the gut. And it made me stop and reflect about being a delegate. About what impact being a delegate has on Cobb.

Some people say “it’s just a party” about being here. Some know that some of the most important time you can spend is at a convention like this that happens once every four years. I agree with the latter. The reason is that it puts you in the room with all the politicians and the key makers of policies in the party. THAT is super important — especially when Cobb IS burning. It’s not news to me, and it has been ever since 2020 with the extreme policies of Lisa Cupid and the theft of a commission district by the Democrats on the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

We have out-of-control spending by the Board of Commissioners and as a reminder — the Republican members are NOT complicit as they both are in the minority. We have attempts to shove this “M-SPLOST” down our throats, which is nothing less than the centralizing of our transportation giving the keys to the kingdom to extreme left bureaucrats in Atlanta. We have our commissioners attempting to tax our rain. Our precious God-given rain they want to tax us for, when they spend out of control.

So while I’m in Milwaukee, I’m talking to all the elected officials who are here. I am alerting the ones who can help and need to be aware that our precious Cobb County is being stolen right out from under us by people who do not value Dobbins or Lockheed nor the resources and the land.

So what do we do? We elect every single Republican on the ballot. Early voting starts October 15th and if you don’t think it’s important I will be knocking on your door soon.

While here in Milwaukee being loved on by these wonderful Georgia Delegation folks, I am ever mindful that even with the most important election ever coming up for president, it truly is THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION EVER FOR COBB COUNTY. I will be bringing help with me and energizing our wonderful Cobb GOP to get the vote out. We need you. We need all freedom loving, liberty loving Cobb County folks to fight, fight, fight the progressive, and Socialist (see Gabriel Sanchez running in HD 42 — we have a great candidate in Diane Jackson running against him) agenda trying to run Cobb.

We do not need the Cupid Cabal running Cobb and this convention is a wonderful way of taking what happens here and bringing it back home. And that’s what I intend to do. God bless you and God bless Cobb County.
