MILWAUKEE (WJW) – Video shared with the FOX 8 I-Team gives us a look at the security surrounding the Republican National Convention.

The video gives you a look at what you see and go through attending the convention in Milwaukee, and some of it will look familiar from the convention in Cleveland back in 2016.

Cell phone video recorded on a bus shows delegates going to the arena for the convention in Milwaukee.

You notice some of what you may remember seeing in Cleveland. Tall, black fencing, some intersections blocked with barricades and officers with dogs.

We also saw metal detectors for the crowds, but not right at the arena front door. Instead, a short distance away from the building.

This week, we introduced you to folks from Northeast Ohio attending this year’s convention, including local businessman Ron Amburgey and police detective Steve Loomis, there as a private citizen.

“There is going to be plenty of security. For every police officer, cop you see, there’s going to be three or four that aren’t that you will never see,” Loomis said.

Meanwhile, Tuesday Columbus police officers helping with security in Milwaukee shot and killed a man they say had knives during an encounter.
