MILWAUKEE — On the third day of the Republican National Convention, the personalities of several delegations were on display as some coordinated clothing. Meanwhile, other attendees put together their own striking outfits to stroll around Milwaukee.

The delegation from Texas chose to wear matching Texas flag button-up shirts on Wednesday, many customizing the look with cowboy hats and large, commemorative belt buckles.

The North Carolina delegation wore seersucker suits to combat the heat — a matching pants and jacket set made from light fabric.

Louisiana went with seersuckers on Tuesday, opting instead to wear bombastic purple and gold outfits on Wednesday to show off some Mardi Gras-themed New Orleans pride.

The Louisiana delegation always tries to have a couple matching days during the convention, according to alternate delegate Kathy Edgeworth. This is Edgeworth’s eighth convention as either an alternate delegate or delegate.

Outside of the Fiserv Forum, one notable convention attendee wore a crisp, brick patterned suit.

“It’s basically a metaphor for one of the things I really liked about President Trump, which is his strong border controls,” Blake Marnell said.

Marnell is an activist and media personality who became a Trump voter and supporter after 2016 — before 2020, he hadn’t cast a vote in a presidential election since voting for Reagan in 1984.

He initially ordered the suit online, and has been wearing it since 2019.

“So, it’s a metaphor for a border wall, even though we really have a fence, but this is the closest I could come up with in a nice, stylish pattern,” Marnell said.

On the grounds outside the Fiserv Forum, crowds swarmed with people pointing out Marnell’s outfit and others.

“This is probably one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever been able to partake in in my lifetime,” Wisconsin Fifth Congressional District alternate delegate John Beauchamp said.

As a younger Republican, this is Beauchamp’s first convention. And while the Wisconsin delegation didn’t march out in matching outfits on Wednesday, they still have worked together to give alternates an opportunity to have the full delegate experience.

“It really is a sight to see and just the excitement we feel down on the floor of the convention, it’s definitely second to none,” he said.
