AWKWARD! CNN Deploys ‘Best Cutaway’ For 1 Line In Eric Trump’s RNC Speech

“The Daily Show” on Thursday hailed CNN for its coverage of one particular comment from Eric Trump during the Trump scion’s speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Eric Trump was waxing lyrical about how his father, former president and current GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, had decided to “leave behind the comforts of an unbelievable business empire” when he first ran for the White House in 2016.

But after Eric Trump said this line — “unlike the current president, it was not a decision that would enrich his family” — CNN’s side-by-side cut from an image of his dad to one of his sister Ivanka Trump and brother-in-law Jared Kushner.

“And the award for Best Cutaway goes to…,” the Comedy Central program captioned the clip, below:

Ivanka Trump and her husband Kushner served as unpaid senior advisers in the Trump White House, but still earned between $172 million and $640 million in outside income during that four year period, according to analysis from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington released in 2021.

Also in 2021, Kushner’s private equity firm, Affinity Partners, received a $2 billion investment from the Saudi Arabian government’s Public Investment Fund.
