Donald Trump , the former president, recounted a chilling incident from his Pennsylvania rally where he believes an immigration chart saved his life during an assassination attempt. Despite the terrifying experience, he managed to inject some humor into the story.

At the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Trump lightened the atmosphere with a joke about the incident after emotionally narrating the attack. Trump recalled how a last-minute glance at an immigration chart caused a bullet to narrowly miss his head.

"Less than four years ago, I handed this administration the strongest border in American history," Trump stated, transitioning into the importance of the chart. "You can see on the chart that saved my life that was the chart that saved my life." During his acceptance speech, Trump humorously pointed out the chart displayed on the screen behind him, reports the Express US .

"I said, 'look at it.' I'm so proud of it. I think it's one of the greatest it was done by the border patrol one of the greatest charts I've ever seen. It showed everything just like that you know the chart."

"Oh, there it is. That's pretty good. Wow," he exclaimed. "Last time I put up that chart, I never really got to look at it. But without that chart, I would not be here today."

The chart, which Trump was admiring when the assassination attempt took place, showed a spike in illegal immigration after his presidency. He mentioned that he didn't get to fully appreciate the chart at the rally because of the attack.

Trump's entourage and various reports suggest that the bullet narrowly missed his head, grazing his right ear by less than a quarter inch. It was Trump's spontaneous decision to look at the chart that saved him from a potentially fatal shot.

Despite making light of the moment, Trump recognized the gravity of the situation.

The former president expressed that he would not discuss the incident further as it was "too painful," with his ear still healing from the close call.

The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, used his father's AR-style rifle during the assault at the rally.

While Trump only suffered a graze to his ear, the tragic event resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man who attended the rally and was a father of two. Additionally, two other individuals were critically wounded but are now recovering and in stable condition.
