Sheboygan's 3 Sheeps Brewing now has a Milwaukee location, shared with Hacienda Beer Co.

Sheboygan's 3 Sheeps Brewing Co. now has a Milwaukee location as it moves into a shared space with Hacienda Beer Co. on the east side.

Hacienda Beer, launched by the founders of Door County Brewing Co., opened its Milwaukee taproom in 2019 at 2018 E. North Ave.

With the addition of 3 Sheeps, the space has rebranded from Hacienda Taproom and Kitchen to Triple Taproom and Kitchen, featuring beers from 3 Sheeps, Door County Brewing and Hacienda.

The new concept is an extension of a partnership that has gone on for years.

According to a news release from 3 Sheeps, the Sheboygan brewery has been packaging Door County Brewing products since 2020, and Hacienda Beer products since earlier this year.

"For a long time we've been really good friends with Door County Brewing Company and Hacienda Beer Co., and we've decided to take this friendship to the next level and are moving in together," 3 Sheeps founder Grant Pauly said in a social media announcement.

"We've talked about it for a long time," he said. "In this crazy world of beer that we live in right now, we thought coming together in the one space, having a lot of different options, a lot of great beer selection, was just a really fun thing for us and a way to share our stuff closer to the Milwaukee community."

The initial lineup of 3 Sheeps beer at Triple Taproom includes:

    • Chaos Pattern Hazy IPA
    • Fresh Coast Juicy Pale Ale
    • Wisconsinitis Cream Ale
    • Shorts and Hoodies Pilsner
    • Lemongrass Pils
    • Oktoberfest
    • Sowre, a sour ale with watermelon
    • The Wolf barrel aged beer

The taproom's food menu will remain the same for now.

    Brewery community, collaboration 'makes sense'

"The brewing industry, it's really well known for collaboration brews and community overall," said Joe Sorge, chief business officer at Hacienda and Door County Brewing Companies. "A partnership like this makes sense."

He said that Hacienda Taproom and Kitchen had been struggling to get a strong customer base given it opened in 2019, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. On top of that, the brewing industry has been shrinking over the last few years.

"It isn’t a secret about the brewery industry that it's shrinking and consolidating," he said. "There's a little bit of that in the decision. We can come together and continue to thrive and offer something in the city of Milwaukee that hasn’t been offered yet."

Sorge said Hacienda, which focuses on Hazy IPAs and experimental brews, with unique hops like Motueka and Nectaron hops from New Zealand, has more of a niche following. The collaboration with a well-known brand like 3 Sheeps allows the breweries to bring their fans together and make a larger customer base.

"There is no question that the addition of 3 Sheeps to our Door County Brewing and Hacienda family will bring opportunity for more traffic and beer aficionados to come through the door," Sorge said. "We have different customer bases. Ours fans will discover 3 Sheeps, and vice versa, 3 Sheeps fans will discover what we make."

The front of the brewery still looks similar and features Hacienda beers. The bar, divided by a cream brick wall in the middle, features 3 Sheeps decor and taps in the back half of the space. Customers can order from all three breweries on both sides of the bar, and can create beer flights mixing and matching the three brewery options.

Triple Taproom and Kitchen plans to host a launch party in late summer or early fall, according to the release.

The Milwaukee taproom will also adopt 3 Sheeps Brewing's Pints For A Purpose, donating $1 of each pint of Wisconsinites Cream Ale to a local charity, with the first being the Kinship Community Food Center in Riverwest.

The rebranded taproom opened July 10.
