    Milwaukee is celebrating the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act

    Milwaukee County Aging and Disabilities Services will be celebrating the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

    The act was signed in 1990 to prohibit discrimination against individuals with disabilities in everyday activities including employment, public transit and more.

    Here's what to know about the Americans with Disabilities Act Celebration hosted by the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services.

    When is the Milwaukee Americans with Disabilities Act Celebration?

    The celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 26 at Gordon Park, 2828 N. Humboldt Blvd.

    Who will speak at the Americans with Disabilities Act Celebration?

    According to Michael Bonk, deputy administrator of Milwaukee County Aging and Disabilities Services, these are some speakers delivering a message:

    • Shakita LaGrant McClain, director of Department of Health & Human Services
    • County Executive David Crowley
    • Nygia Harrington, advanced professional of Aging and Disability Resource Centers

    What activities will be at the Milwaukee Americans with Disabilities Act Celebration?

    Over 30 vendors will be present to provide attendees with a resource fair, giveaways and more.

    Also, the event will feature an education component called Scam Singo. This will bring awareness about different scams targeting individuals with disabilities and older adults in the community.
