According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, an equinox occurs when the Sun crosses the "celestial equator," an imaginary extension of Earth's equator line into space, writes the almanac.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the autumnal equinox occurs in September, and in the Southern Hemisphere, it occurs in March.

What is the Old Farmer's Almanac predicting for Wisconsin's upcoming fall weather?

The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a warmer than normal autumn this year for much of the country. However, it estimates that the upper Midwest region will have average temperatures for this time of year compared to historical temperatures.
