    {span}OPEN HOUSE —{/span}{span class=”apple-converted-space”}{span} {/span}{/span}{span}Clackamas Community College is hosting an open house for its health sciences programs on Thursday, April 25, from 6 to 8 p.m., on the Harmony campus, 7738 S.E. Harmony Road, Milwaukie. This free event is open to the public for those interested in learning more about how they can train at CCC for exciting careers through interactive classroom learning and hands-on clinical experiences. Programs featured include medical assistant, emergency medical technology, dental assistant, medical billing and coding, phlebotomy and nursing assistant. At the open house, participants can learn about the growing health care job market and explore flexible training options.     {span}‘LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL’ —{/span}{span class=”apple-converted-space”}{span} {/span}{/span}{span}It’s a story of Elle Woods, who tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dream of attending law school, and Stumptown Stages puts on the musical April 26-May 19 at Winningstad Theatre, 1111 S.W.     {span}IT’S A PARADE —{/span}{span}{span} {/span}{/span}{span}The 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade, showcasing a diverse neighborhood, takes place Saturday, April 27. It starts at 9:30 a.m. just north of Eastport Plaza at Southeast Bush Street and travels north on 82nd Avenue and disbands at 78th and Yamhill. It’s presented by 82 Roses Community Enrichment Coalition. There’ll be marching bands, community groups, local officeholders, school bands and more.     {span}DRUGS AND SHREDDING —{/span}{span class=”apple-converted-space”}{span} {/span}{/span}{span}The Milwaukie Police Department is hosting a prescription drug drop-off event on Saturday, April 27, in partnership with the DEA. Volunteers are collecting any unused or expired prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Public Safety Building 3200 S.E. Harrison St., Milwaukie. Enter the Public Safety Building parking lot from Railroad Avenue and exit onto Harrison Street. Please have prescriptions collected in a bag or small box to hand off to a volunteer. Concurrently, the department is hosting a sensitive document shredding event at the same location. Bring paper documents only that contain sensitive, personal information to be securely destroyed free of charge. Remove staples and any other metal objects from the documents, and arrive with all items in a box or bag to simplify the collection process. Document processors will accept two document containers of material at no charge.{/span}

It starts and ends at Main City Park, 219 S. Main Ave., Gresham. The event has a staggered start: 8 a.m. for the 13.1-mile half marathon; 8:15 a.m. for the 10K; and 8:30 a.m. for the 5K.     {span}LAKE OSWEGO READS —{/span}{span class=”apple-converted-space”}{span} {/span}{/span}{span}Join us for an engaging evening with our featured LO Reads 2024 author, Thrity Umrigrar. Thanks to the Friends of Lake Oswego Public Library, Umrigar will be with us for an in-person presentation on April 25 to discuss her book “Honor” and to answer questions from the Lake Oswego community. In this tender and evocative novel about love, hope, familial devotion, betrayal and sacrifice, Umrigar shows us two courageous women trying to navigate how to be true to their homelands and themselves at the same time. Bring your copy of “Honor” if you would like it autographed by the author. Umrigar will be joined in conversation by Oregon author Sindya Bhanoo, who is the author of the acclaimed collection of short stories, “Seeking Fortune Elsewhere.” Come to the Lakeridge High School Auditorium, 1235 Overlook Drive, Lake Oswego, at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.).
