    2 officers hurt as 'combative' man battles cops, gets tased at LI hospital

    MINEOLA, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 37-year-old man was arrested on Monday after he became "combative" and injured two officers trying to get him to leave a Long Island hospital, authorities said.

    At about 11 a.m., officers responded to NYU Langone Hospital Long Island in Mineola for a disturbance.

    Upon police arrival, officers were informed that defendant Christopher Piccoli was involved in a verbal argument with a woman and refused to leave the hospital.

    Responding officers attempted to place Piccoli into custody but he resisted and refused to comply with verbal commands. Officers then deployed a taser and were able to place Piccoli into custody.

    Two officers sustained injuries during the arrest, as Piccoli was violent and combative.

    Officers were transported to a local area hospital for treatment and the defendant was also transported to the hospital for evaluation.

    Piccoli was charged with assault, criminal trespass and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned on Tuesday,
