MINERSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One man is in custody after police say he trapped a woman in the attic of a home and physically assaulted her.

According to police, on June 12, just before 11:00 a.m., they were dispatched to a home on North Second Street in Minersville after a neighbor received a text stating “I need help. He’s here and won’t let me leave.”

Courts documents say 33-year-old Christopher Zukas, of Shenandoah, held a woman in the attic by using a couch to block the door.

Police say the victim told them Zukas punched her in the face, head, and body. The victim states she was cut with a razor on her back and was also strangled, police note.

As stated in the criminal complaint, when Zukas was taken into custody officers asked if he had anything on him he replied “a bunch of meth.”

Officials have charged Zukas with strangulation, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, harassment, and several other related charges.
