SWAT standoff in Minerva ends in one death

MINERVA, Ohio (WJW) — Officials responded to an incident in Minerva Monday evening.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that deputies came under fire when they responded to the home on Metro St. just after 3 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, several shots hit the deputy’s vehicles.

The sheriff said a woman in the home was able to escape.

A man was found inside dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the sheriff.

Residents had been asked to remain in their homes and avoid the area during the situation.

No deputies were hurt.
