    Jacque Swaney

    December 8, 1944 – April 20, 2024 - Jacque, 79 went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2024 near Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was born Jacqueline Ruth Conrad at Silverton Hospital. Jacque spent her childhood years in the Canby, Oregon area as well as Portland and Seattle. As a 16 year old her family moved to the Seattle area where she attended Kings Garden High School and met John Swaney. They were married in September of 1963. Their son Mike was born in 1964 with two more children, Emily born in 1970 and Matt born in the Philippines in 1975. Jacque worked for Graybar Electric while John was attending school and in 1973 they went to Manila, Philippines with Wycliffe Bible Translators where John would teach and Jacque ran backyard bible clubs, led Pioneer girls and helped support the Wycliffe and Faith Academy where John taught. She also encouraged Nening Barcenal to attend Bible school where she met her husband and they started a ministry Sebaste Christian Church that John and Jacque supported throughout their lives. They returned stateside in 1977 where John ended up finding a teaching job in Seaside, Oregon. Jacque went to night school eventually in Seaside and got her teaching degree and she taught at Warrenton Elementary School before they moved to Oceanside California in 1985. She taught at three schools in the area including Tri-City Christian, Santa Margarita and Christa McAuliffe. Her love for teaching and using science in teaching included her classroom tarantula "Harry" as well as "science discovery day".

    Jacque was always involved in church anywhere she lived. Her church involvement included small groups, Awana, BSF, CBS, Sunday School teaching, and Bible Studies. She also loved the Ocean and spent many years walking the beach every morning in Oceanside. She also enjoyed quilting with friends.

    Jacque's last couple years were spent in Minnesota near her daughter, Emily.

    Preceded in death by her parents, her baby brother Charles, her daughter in law Laurel Swaney and Grandson Joey Matuza. Survived by her sister Carol (Robert) Warren, Husband John, Children, Mike, Emily (Joe) Matuza, and Matt. Grandchildren include Gabriel Swaney, Jacque Matuza, Jacob Swaney, Caleb Swaney, Marc Matuza, Liv Swaney, Michael Swaney, Luke Matuza, Isaac Swaney, Duren Swaney and Jia Jia Swaney. "Sumaiyo nawa ang kapayapaan" ~ Peace be with you. In lieu of gifts please make contributions to Wycliffe Bible Translators or Sebaste Christian Church in the Philippines.

    A Memorial Service will be held at Hope Village Community Room on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM. 1535 S Ivy Street, Canby, Oregon, 97013. Tropical shirts/dresses welcome.
