    Lizzy Nyoike

What is something you will always remember about high school?

The life lessons of time management and learning the value of friendship and networking. My favorite memory was AVID (Advance Via Individual Determination) class. AVID is a college readiness class. My AVID teacher Mr. O’Connor made it such an inclusive space to ask any questions about life, colleges, loans, investments, questions about anything, etc.

Did you have any extracurriculars in high school?

I was involved in golf, the yearbook club, student council, alpine skiing and I started my own business. I make affirmation canvases which are used to be uplifting. I make canvases tailored based on your color and preferences. You can find me on Instagram @madebyshikoo.

Describe one person who made an impact on you during high school.

My business teacher Ms. Dodd always motivated me to do better and put myself out there, put my entrepreneurship skills out there. Also, Mr. Spohn, another AVID teacher, always listened to me.

    What’s next for you?

I plan to attend college and I plan to major in journalism. I fully haven’t decided where I want to go yet, but I know I want to go somewhere in Georgia. Post graduation, I plan to get into the industry and really get out there. I’m passionate about storytelling and interviewing people about local things that are going on around us. These days it seems like there’s a lot going on around us.

    Katrina Roberts

Roberts lives in Crystal and attends Robbinsdale Cooper High School.

What is something you will always remember about high school?

I will always remember the two most important things my mom taught me. “Don’t talk about anyone and be nice to everyone, and high school will be a breeze,” and it was. And to always try your best because it will matter when it is time to apply to colleges.

Did you have any extracurriculars in high school?

I was a spirit leader. I would help plan pep fests, school spirit days, and volunteer activities.

Describe one person who made an impact on you during high school.

My counselor, Ms. Walters, made the biggest impact on me during high school. She was always there for me and our entire class academically and was always an impactful support system.

    What’s next for you?

Next year, I will be attending NDSU for journalism and communications.

    Avery Cuper

Cuper lives in New Hope and attends Robbinsdale Armstrong High School.

What is something you will always remember about high school?

I will always remember the fun trip to France I was fortunate enough to experience through my school’s French program.

Did you have any extracurriculars in high school?

In high school I was the student body president, I spent several years on the student council. I also ran cross country, track and field. I was involved in my school’s environmental club, orchestra and National Honor Society.

Describe one person who made an impact on you during high school.

People who impacted my high school experience were my two friends, Abby and Caitlyn. Despite us not being close friends at the time, they convinced me to join track and cross country. They train with me everyday and always push me to be my best. Their support has taken me to heights I couldn’t even have imagined.

    What’s next for you?

I am headed to the University of Minnesota, I will major in biology, society and environment. With hopes of walking on to the cross country and track and field team. After college I hope I am working in the medical field.

    Jack Bailey

Bailey lives in Plymouth and attends Robbinsdale Armstrong High School.

What is something you will always remember about high school?

Something I will always remember about high school is running out on to the football field for home games and Friday night lights.

Did you have any extracurriculars in high school?

I was senior co-class president this year, I also played football and was a captain for football and I also play lacrosse and I am also a captain for lacrosse as well.

Describe one person who made an impact on you during high school.

One person who made an impact on me during high school was my football coach, Coach Rogers. I would say my parents, but that’s too obvious. Coach Rogers helped me become a better football player but more importantly, a better human being and taught me many things throughout my four years as a football player.

    What’s next for you?

My plan after high school is to attend the University of Minnesota and attend the Carlson School of Management and major in finance and play club lacrosse.

    Jacob Adem

Adem lives in Brooklyn Park and attends Robbinsdale Academy-Highview.

What is something you will always remember about high school?

One thing I will always remember throughout my four years and throughout life is this one quote that I heard from one of my faculty members, in which he said, “A wish without a plan is just a wish.” So from that day on, I applied that to my everyday life, from studying for a test to wrestling on the mat to making my bed, ‘cause in order to find order you must first plan out the order. Another thing is when I caught a pick six against my rival school in the sections finals game, where everyone and their mothers were watching.

Did you have any extracurriculars in high school?

On my high school journey I did three extracurriculars: football, track and wrestling. At one point I was also in the chess club.

Describe one person who made an impact on you during high school.

A person that have made an impact on me in high school and out would have to be my mother. She has supported me though everything no matter the outcome, good or bad. Once I started high school she told me all she could do would be to help guide me on my journey through high school and life, because as I hit my teen years I would start to develop my own view on things throughout the world. But she said she would still always be in my corner no matter what.

    What’s next for you?

At this point I’m just going with the flow from an unsigned senior to now attending North Dakota State College of Science. It may not be the biggest school, but it is a school and that’s all that matters to me. My plan is to go there and major in business and minor finance while also playing football and wrestling if the program allows it.

    Bryan Koffi

Koffi lives in New Hope and attends Robbinsdale Armstrong High School.

What is something you will always remember about high school?

What I will really remember about high school is the way teachers will give you their time. There’s some specific teachers, they just treat you like their own child. They taught me how important it is to give your time to somebody.

Did you have any extracurriculars in high school?

I took an EMS system course from Hennepin Tech.

Describe one person who made an impact on you during high school.

My teacher, Ms. Dragseth, is nice. Anything I need, I’ll just go to her office. She’s basically like my second mom at school. For example she helped me apply for scholarships and got my schedule to fit me.

Do not always feel like you’re alone! I am lucky to have my parents, friends and uncle who care about me. I’m grateful for that.

    What’s next for you?

I’m wanting to finish the EMS system course, getting some skills in business. I’ll probably (pursue) computer science, like get myself into cybersecurity or engineering.

    Mohamed Bishar

Bishar lives in Robbinsdale and attends Robbinsdale Cooper High School.

What is something you will always remember about high school?

I will always remember the fun times I had in my AVID class over the past three years, especially during Fun Fridays. Those days were filled with laughter, bonding and memorable activities that brought our class closer together. Another highlight was attending the Minnesota Business Venture camp in 10th grade. It was an incredible experience that taught me much about teamwork and leadership.

Did you have any extracurriculars in high school?

I was involved in several extracurricular activities during high school. I was a student council member, where I helped organize events and worked on initiatives to improve our school community. I also joined the National Honor Society, participating in countless hours of service. Additionally, I played football during my freshman year and took up track for the first time in 11th grade, which was a great way to try something new.

Describe one person who made an impact on you during high school.

My parents made a significant impact on me during high school. They constantly motivated me to be successful and encouraged me to pursue my goals with determination. My sisters also played a crucial role by guiding me and providing support whenever needed. Their belief in me gave me the confidence to strive for excellence and persevere through challenges.

    What’s next for you?

I plan to attend the University of Minnesota for the next four years, where I will major in computer science. I am excited about the opportunities and look forward to furthering my education and exploring new interests in technology.
