Land Bank Twin Cities, a group dedicated to purchasing and developing land for the benefit of underrepresented communities, announced Aarica L. Coleman as its CEO and president in a Monday press release.

Coleman comes from the Bloomington Housing and Redevelopment Authority, where she was the administrator since November 2020. She is currently a member of the board of directors for the Minneapolis Area Realtors. Prior to her HRA work in Bloomington, she worked for the city of Minneapolis and Hennepin County.

Tom Streitz, the Land Bank’s interim executive director, said he was thrilled to have Coleman aboard the nonprofit.

“Aarica has demonstrated talent, passion and vision in real estate and affordable housing that will build on the formidable impact that Land Bank has achieved in the community,” Streitz said. “She is a dedicated leader with a proven track record of galvanizing teams around a shared commitment to racial equity. We are honored that she has chosen to share her expertise with the team at Land Bank.”

Land Bank was founded in 2009 and since then has acquired more than $100 million in land and helped create 3,544 new housing units, according to the press release.
