Before they fly to Paris in a couple of weeks, the country’s top gymnasts will first have to visit Minneapolis, as the city has become “Gymnastics City USA,” with leaders preparing to welcome gymnasts from all over the world for the Olympic trials.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz declared this week “Gymnastics City USA Week”  to honor the event and commend legislators for their support in funding it.

Target Field Plaza will be the center of all the action, with entertainment for all ages and a live feed of the competitions all week long.

Artistic, rhythmic, trampoline, and acrobatic gymnasts, along with tumblers, will be competing in the Olympic trials this week at Target Center.

The event is bringing back memories for Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who once competed in the Olympic trials himself as a distance runner in 2008.

“This was my great opportunity to shine, to compete in front of friends and family, and to really celebrate all the great work that happened,” Frey said.

Mayor Frey emphasized that Minnesota has become a hub for developing gymnasts and that it will be further confirmed in this week’s display of the country’s finest.
