Cheryl Reeve: 'You gotta talk about us now' after beating super teams

The Minnesota Lynx took down the New York Liberty on Tuesday night, taking home the Commissioner's Cup in-season tournament title. Head coach Cheryl Reeve was fired up when talking to the media after the game.

"What do we have to do for you guys to start to believe in us? We don't really care what you think except for right now when we get to say, now you gotta talk about us," Reeve said. "Now you gotta say we just beat a super team."

The Liberty are led by two-time WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart, two-time All-Star Sabrina Ionescu and 2021 WNBA MVP Jonquel Jones. They're 15-3 in regular season play this year, and Minnesota has beaten them twice.

With a 13-4 record, the Lynx own the third-best record in the league and New York isn't the only super team they've defeated twice. Minnesota also has two wins over the Las Vegas Aces, who have four members of the Team USA women's basketball team on the roster.

"We have a level of toughness, I know that when we show up people are not afraid of us. Our level of toughness, I will put it up against anybody," Reeve said.
