    Victim of Friday night north Minneapolis shooting identified

    The victim of a Friday night North Minneapolis shooting has been identified as a 55-year-old man.

    Minneapolis Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 3500 block of Penn Avenue North just before 11 p.m.

    At the scene, officers found a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds sitting in a vehicle. Police, EMS and fire crews attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The Hennepin County Medical Examiner later identified the man as 55-year-old Carl Maurice Woodard, of Minneapolis. His cause of death was identified as a gunshot wound to the torso.

    MPD says it is currently investigating the shooting, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
