Diaz was away from the Rays during Friday's game against the Yankees tending to a personal matter, and it remains unclear when he might return as he moves to the restricted list. In the meantime, Isaac Paredes will take over as the Rays' first baseman, and Curtis Mead will come up from Triple-A Durham to provide Tampa Bay with some additional infield depth.

Winn (elbow) has been shut down from throwing after experiencing discomfort in his elbow over the weekend, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Winn has been out since June 22 with a nerve issue in his right elbow and he appears to have suffered a setback in his recovery. The timetable to return for the right-hander is unclear at this point and with just over two months remaining in the season, it's possible that the Giants could opt to shut him down for the season if his issues continue.

Atlanta optioned Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. Elder served as the 27th man for Atlanta in Saturday's doubleheader with the Cardinals and started the second game of the twin bill, taking a loss while serving up six earned runs on eight hits and one walk over five innings. Though he'll head back to the minors, Elder could garner consideration for a return to the Atlanta rotation as a replacement for Max Fried (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday. However, since Elder would be on only three days' rest when Fried's next turn in the rotation is scheduled to come up Wednesday, expect Atlanta to have another pitcher start that game.

The Tigers recalled Lucas from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday. Lucas will provide a fresh arm for a Detroit bullpen that was forced to cover the final seven innings of Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays after starter Reese Olson (shoulder) exited early. The southpaw reliever has previously made three appearances at the big-league level this season, all with Oakland. He had compiled a 4.38 ERA and 1.40 WHIP while striking out 32 batters over 24.2 innings at Toledo after Detroit claimed him off waivers in May.

Kim went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Guardians. Kim reached on a single in the second inning, and he went on to steal a base and score on a Kyle Higashioka double. Kim now has 19 steals this season, and his 57 swipes since the start of 2023 are tied with Nico Hoerner for the seventh most in MLB in that span. Kim has started all but three games at shortstop for the Padres this season. The 28-year-old is just 9-for-45 over his last 14 games but has solid counting stats for the season with 10 homers, 40 RBI and 51 runs scored over 100 games.
