Royce Lewis to IR, Brooks Lee Called Up for Minnesota Twins Debut

The Minnesota Twins will play against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night in game two of a three game series. In game one, Royce Lewis injured his groin and, though he didn’t believe it was necessary , knew a trip to the injured list was inevitable

And that’s exactly what happened this afternoon. Taking his place will be Twins No. 2 overall prospect and No 13 overall prospect in the MLB , 23-year-old Brooks Lee, who Derek Falvey & Co drafted No. 8 overall in the 2022 MLB Draft.

The fact that we can’t have Royce Lewis in the lineup for Brooks Lee’s MLB debut is very Minnesota sports fan, but we’ve come to accept that reality by now. We’ll see how long the Twins can keep Lewis off the field this time around, and what kind of damage Lee can do in the meantime.

Minnesota Twins won’t skip a beat with Brooks Lee in lineup

Because I can promise that, while Royce Lewis was a stud and will be missed in the Minnesota Twins lineup, neither the offense or defense will skip that much of a beat, now that Lee is in his place.

In the 20 games Brooks Lee has played at St. Paul, following his own injured list stay due to a back injury, the Cal Poly alum is hitting an absurd .329 with a 1.029 OPS, 7 home runs and 21 RBI. Every time he was in the Saints lineup, something good happened.

Tonight’s first pitch between the MN Twins and Detroit Tigers is at 7:10. David Festa will be on the mound, making his second career MLB start. Can Brooks Lee light off some fireworks in his MLB debut? I wouldn’t recommend doubting him.
