"People get so caught up" - Horry thinks there is only one similarity between MJ and Ant

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has often been compared to Michael Jordan . Some even claim that Ant is MJ's long-lost son because of their facial resemblance.

The only similarity between Anthony and Michael

However, in terms of basketball skills and playstyle, Robert Horry believes there's only one similarity between the two. Other than that, Edwards and Jordan are two completely different players from different eras.

"I think the explosiveness is pretty much the only similarity," Horry said , per the Dan Patrick Show. "I think Anthony Edwards hasn't learned the mid-range like MJ. You know, everybody wants to talk about shooting threes. MJ averaged 30 points, not shooting threes. He averaged 40, I think, one time in the finals and didn't shoot threes. I think people get so caught up in shooting threes."

Horry noted that Edwards' offensive prowess was on display against the Denver Nuggets in the WCSF. He truly looked like Jordan in that series, offensively and defensively.

But when they played against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, the Wolves guard suddenly settled for 3-pointers. This is not something Michael did in his prime. As Horry noted, MJ stuffed the scoring sheet just by draining mid-range jumpers, which is a masterful feat of offensive skill.

    A little different

The 6-foot-4 guard has shared his thoughts on the comparisons between him and MJ. Whereas Horry criticized Edwards for settling for 3-pointers, the Georgia native believes this is what makes him different from Mike . Maybe this makes Ant a bit more offensively versatile than the Chicago Bulls legend.

"I want people to be like, 'This Anthony Edwards kid, he's got his own style,'" said Anthony. "He's maybe got a mix of Michael Jordan in him, but I've got a trey ball, I can shoot the three. So, I think that makes me a little different than Michael Jordan."

Edwards has the new breed of confidence that has been entertaining NBA fans for the last few years. The Wolves' magical playoff run established Ant as a true franchise star. Some even claim that he'll be the new poster boy of the league once LeBron James retires.

The great part is that the former Georgia Bulldog is only 22 years old. Anthony has a whole life ahead of him, and he's only going to get better. Those Jordan comparisons are really flattering, but Edwards knows he is a unique basketball player in his own right. Ant is out there trying to carve his path rather than follow what's already there.
