It started last season, continued through the winter, and now the Minnesota Twins ongoing TV battles have only gotten worse since May. So far at least, there's been no resolution to fan frustration when it comes to watching the team on television.

Diamond Sports, which owns Bally Sports North who airs nearly every Twins game during the season, is in the midst of bankruptcy which already was leaving games beyond 2024 in question as they navigate new contracts with the Twins and several other MLB teams.

Then, on May 1, Comcast cable subscribers saw their Bally Sports North stations go dark , making Minnesota Twins games impossible to watch in the local market almost everywhere outside of DirecTV and FuboTV. The same is true in a few other MLB markets like Detroit and Atlanta.

But could that situation be changing soon? Twins President Dave St. Peter, speaking to Vineeta Sawkar on the WCCO Morning News , says he believes there's a possibility the Twins will be back on Comcast soon.

"Yeah, there's all kinds of urgency. Certainly, the baseball team, which we're not a part of that negotiation, are urging all sides to come together and to get a deal done," St. Peter explains. "I do know there's some ongoing conversations and I think that's good. I'm hopeful that you're gonna see Twins baseball back on Comcast soon."

Making things worse for fans, games are blacked out locally on the league's streaming arm, MLB.tv, due to exclusivity provisions.

St. Peter says that Diamond Sports continuing issues with their bankruptcy isn't helping get a deal done.

"We've always felt that, we know there's a bankruptcy hearing for Diamond Sports, the parent company for Bally Sports North," he says. "That bankruptcy hearing is scheduled for July 29th and 30th. I think that plays into this, to some extent."

That means the next two weeks are a critical time for resolving their issues with Comcast, with the hearing possibly determining if and how Diamond will emerge bankruptcy reorganization.

Diamond maintains the rights for 12 baseball teams, but the Twins, Cleveland Guardians and Texas Rangers are under contracts that extend only through the 2024 season.

Diamond also held the rights for 16 NBA teams and 12 NHL teams, but those deals expired at the end of the 2023-24 seasons.
