Minnesotans love to dine, drink, and socialize outside when the weather is warm and the sun sets later. We suggest these popular go-tos in a number of categories as well as a host of new hot spots to hit this summer.

Apostle Supper Club : Barbecue icons Gary Sherwood (Boomin’ BBQ) and Anthony Simmons (formerly of Soul to Soul BBQ) will have barbecue and smoked hula chicken, grilled pineapples, and more, with seating for 120 every Saturday and Sunday, reservations and walk-ins accepted. 253 Kellogg Blvd. W., St. Paul
Bina’s : A small patio opened outside this divey bar and sister restaurant to Centro in Northeast Minneapolis. 1404 Quincy St. NE, Minneapolis
Chilango : A huge patio is coming soon to Jorge Guzmán’s new restaurant along Bde Maka Ska. 2730 W. Lake St., Minneapolis
Coastal Dive Bar & Oyster Palace : St. Paul’s new Coastal has “The Dive” indoors and a huge outdoor patio with a killer burger, lobster rolls, tuna smash burgers, fish and chips, and more. 86 Snelling Ave., St. Paul
Diane’s Place : Diane Moua’s brunchy spot features tons of picnic tables in a patio right outside the Food Building in Northeast Minneapolis. 117 14th Ave. NE, Minneapolis
King Coil Spirits : This 80-seat space will have table service and daily happy hour specials. Reservations available. 550 Vandalia St., St. Paul
Masa & Agave : This patio, taking over the space that was outside of Monello, will have 22 seats with a capacity for 40, a frozen margarita machine, and a similar food menu to downstairs. Reservations accepted. 1115 Second Ave. S., Minneapolis
Nico’s Tacos : Newly opened in the former Tinto restaurant. 4959 Penn Ave. S., Minneapolis
Smorgie’s : This huge patio is outside the new “smorgasbord” across the street from Xcel Energy Center. 127 W. Seventh St., St. Paul
Wakapa Bar : From Owamni, this street-level patio will serve beer and wine and features a menu of Indigenous snacks and small plates, such as elk skewers, bison birria tacos, smoked turkey legs, smoked walleye and bean dip, popcorn with crickets, and more.
