Minneapolis shooting victim dies in hospital days later

A man who was shot in Minneapolis has died from his injuries four days later, police have confirmed.

Minneapolis Police Department confirmed that the 29-year-old man who was shot on the 2000 block of Emerson Avenue North around 11:30 p.m. on July 8 died at North Memorial Medical Center on Friday, July 12.

Police say the man was in an alleyway when he was shot, with officers arriving to find him gravely wounded.

MPD investigators are still trying to learn what led to the shooting, and no arrests have been made at this time.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the man's name at a later date.

There have been 32 homicides in Minneapolis so far in 2024, one more than at the same point in 2023.
