On Friday morning, the Minnesota Vikings officially signed quarterback J.J. McCarthy to his four-year rookie contract. It was one that fans and analysts were getting a little bit of concern about due to McCarthy needing practice time during training camp more than anyone on the roster.

There were some concerns about a deal being made because McCarthy wanted his entire signing bonus paid upfront. It's not known at this time if the Vikings ended up doing that for McCarthy, but the important thing is they came to an agreement.

That leaves just one member of the Vikings 2024 NFL Draft class unsigned in edge rusher Dallas Turner . He is one of two draft picks unsigned with the other being selected one pick after him in offensive tackle Amarius Mims of the Cincinnati Bengals.

What could be the holdup with Turner and the Vikings? The first thing that comes to mind is offset language. That is something a lot of rookie contracts end up having built in. If the Vikings cut Turner at some point, having offset language in the contract would prevent Turner from double dipping and the amount that he makes from his new team would be removed from the Vikings' salary cap obligations.

The Vikings are likely to get a deal done with Turner before rookies report on Sunday afternoon.
