The Minnesota Vikings brought things to the wire with edge rusher Dallas Turner and his rookie contract, but any potential panic was alleviated on Sunday afternoon. The team announced that both Turner and quarterback J.J. McCarthy have officially signed their rookie four-year contracts with the Vikings and have prevented a potential holdout.

There was some concern that a contract wasn't going to get done. We hadn't seen or heard anything reported on the subject either, which raised more eyebrows. The Vikings have had multiple rookie holdouts but none of them have come after the rookie wage scale was instituted.

Last season, the Vikings had both Danielle Hunter and T.J. Hockenson on "hold-ins" where they didn't practice but still showed up to training camp until their contracts were modified. It worked out for both of them but it's not the same as a rookie contract, as you cannot practice during training camp until you put pen to paper.

Turner getting signed means that he will be at the first Vikings training camp practice and it will severely help his development. Any potential panic that was felt among the fanbase can be swept away.
