    Minnesota Vikings are doing right by late rookie CB Khyree Jackson as he's laid to rest

    At the beginning of July, Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson tragically passed away in a car accident.

    And the team is doing some incredible kind as Jackson will be laid to rest.

    The Vikings announced that they will cover a "significant" portion of expenses for Jackson's funeral, which is schedule for Friday. Head coach Kevin O'Connell, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, defensive coordinator Brian Flores, special teams coach Matt Daniels, and defensive backs coach Daronte Jones will be attending, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert.

    The Athletic's Alec Lewis added that the team will also pay out the remainder of Jackson's signing bonus to his estate. Plus, They will wear helmet decals with the initials "KJ" during the 2024 season, while the staff will wear pins.

    Jackson was one of three people who passed away in the accident. His high school teammates who attended Dr. Henry Wise Jr., Anthony Lytton Jr. and Isaiah Hazel, were also killed in the accident that took place in Maryland. Hazel and Jackson were pronounced dead at the scene, while Lytton was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

    The three were in a Dodge Charger, when the driver of a silver Infiniti "attempted to change lanes while driving at a high rate of speed," and struck the Dodge Charger, which then went off the side of the road and crashed into multiple trees.

    Jackson was selected by the Vikings in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the No. 108 overall pick.

    Following the accident, the Vikings reacted to the news.

    "We are devastated by the news of Khyree Jackson’s death following an overnight car accident.

    Our thoughts are with Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches, as well as all the victims of this tragic accident.💔💔💔"

    The NFL also released a statement

    The NFL family is deeply saddened and devastated by the passing of Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson.

    Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, loved ones and everybody involved in this tragic accident.
