The Twin Cities Pro-Am, an official summer league for professional, collegiate and prep basketball players in Minnesota, continued last week at Minnehaha Academy.

Multiple area players continued to play their part in the tournament last week and a few new local faces also entered the mix.

The Breck School was well represented by the addition of Miles Newton to the Team Tyus roster on July 15. Newton showed out for the team as a key option off the bench in the team’s 101-76 win over Strictly BBall. He was joined by Breck boys basketball head coach Harry Sonie, who helped coach the team last week.

The talk of the tournament was all focused on July 18 when Timberwolves player Luka Garza stepped up to play for Strictly BBall. The gym was packed for the game against Team Sizzle and Garza delivered on the hype, scoring 59 points to set a new Twin Cities Pro-Am record for single-game points scored.

Another storyline came from Lamb Chops, featuring Rashad Vaughn, a pro basketball player who played with Robbinsdale Cooper through 2013. The team started the tournament well with two wins but fell short with two losses last week as the tournament’s standings continued to even out.
