    Carjacking suspects chased by Edina PD crash near Minneapolis park

    A police chase of carjacking suspects that started in Edina ended a short time later in Minneapolis with the driver crashing into a tree near Southwest High School.

    The incident started around 7 p.m., when Edina Police Department says it found a stolen vehicle near 50th and France that was "taken during an armed carjacking in another city."

    The driver fled when police attempted a traffic stop, and later crashed at 49th Street and Abbott Avenue, next to Pershing Park and the Southwest High School Stadium.

    Three people fled from the vehicle, sparking a large police response including K-9 officers, a police drone and the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter.

    Edina PD says two of the suspects were found by officers and arrested. There have been no details released at this time of any weapons being recovered.

    The scene was officially cleared at 10:15 p.m.
