Minnesota Vikings Madden 25 ratings show plenty of respect for tight ends but less for cornerbacks

The Minnesota Vikings are in an interesting spot going into the 2024 season and that is well reflected in the Madden 25 rankings.

Wide receiver Justin Jefferson is the highest-rated Viking at a 98 overall, one year removed from being apart of the 99 overall club.

On Thursday morning, EA Sports revealed the rankings for cornerbacks, tight ends and special teamers, the Vikings fared relatively well.

    Tight ends

    • T.J. Hockenson: 91
    • Josh Oliver: 71
    • N'Keal Harry: 70
    • Robert Tonyan: 70
    • Johnny Mundt: 67
    • Nick Muse: 63
    • Trey Knox: 61
    • Sammis Reyes: 57

Hockenson is the fourth-best tight end in the game and it's well deserved. He is going to miss the first few weeks due to his torn ACL. Oliver being ranked that low, especially with how dominant of a blocker he is, is surprising. It's also surprising to see Harry at 70 overall, which is likely due to being a first round pick in 2019.

    Cornerback

    • Byron Murphy Jr.: 79
    • Mekhi Blackmon: 75
    • Shaquill Griffin: 75
    • Akayleb Evans: 73
    • Andrew Booth Jr.: 71
    • Khyree Jackson: 70
    • A.J. Green III: 68
    • Dwight McGlothern: 66

The depth at cornerback wasn't shown a lot of respect by the creators of Madden, but it's also not terrible. None of the depth pieces have shown they are top-level starters and Griffin has fallen off somewhat of a cliff over the last two years.

Kudos to EA Sports for keeping Jackson in the game after his tragic passing.

    Special teams

    • K Will Reichard: 71
    • P Ryan Wright: 73
    • LS Andrew DePaola: 50

Nothing too surprising here, especially as long snappers don't often rank highly. If training camp is any indication, Reichard is going to go up during the season.
