The Minnesota Twins finished off a three game home series sweep over the Chicago White Sox, on Sunday afternoon. The win was nice, but not everything went as planned. More on that momentarily.

The coolest moment of the game, however, came in the bottom of the 6th inning, with Royce Lewis at the plate. That’s when the young Twins slugger, who has been tested for steroids a bunch lately and hit another HR on Sunday, popped a foul ball straight back into the Target Field crowd.

Luckily, there was a sure-handed usher in the vicinity, who was determined to make sure those sitting behind him remained safe from flying projectiles. In order to fulfill that duty, the well-dressed man leapt up and snagged Lewis’ foul ball with his right hand like a center fielder robbing a sure-fire home run with no glove. Speaking of center fielders, Target Field ushers weren’t the only Twins employees making spectacular catches today. Byron Buxton had the second most impressive catch of the afternoon. While both will probably be on SportsCenter’s Top-10 plays tonight, Buck’s actually counted for an out and saved a Chicago run.

Unfortunately, as is often the case with Byron, he didn’t gracefully pull off his incredible catch. Instead, he violently smashed into, and ricocheted off, the center field wall, before landing hard on the outfield warning track, ball in glove and wincing in pain.

When the dust settled on this afternoon, the Minnesota Twins were able to walk away with a high-scoring victory. It was an exciting day at the ballpark, filled with spectacular catches, some from unexpected places.

There was another pleasant surprise during the 7th inning stretch, when Bally Sports North on-field reporter, Audra Martin, added to her game day duties by performing God Bless America. Audra, who also works Minnesota Wild games, is clearly a woman of many talents, singing included.

After sweeping the White Sox , who play in Oakland on Monday, it’ll actually be the Twins who pack up and catch a flight to Chicago. That’s because they start a 3-game set at Wrigley Field tomorrow, vs the cross town rival, Cubs (54-59).

The Cleveland Guardians lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, meaning the Twins enter Monday 4.5 games back of the division leaders. On Thursday, Minnesota and Cleveland will start a four game weekend series that will have HUGE playoff implications.
