Guitar legends Joe Satriani and Steve Vai’s musical careers have been intertwined for nearly five decades when Satriani was Vai’s guitar teacher during their teenage years on Long Island, New York. Their music paths have overlapped ever since and the pair is on tour now in support of their new release, “The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1,” which debuted in March.
Minnesota singer-songwriter and film composer Barbara Cohen is freshly back from Los Angeles and reuniting with her 1990s Little Lizard bandmates cellist Jacqueline Ultan, guitarist Jeremy Ylivisaker, and percussionist Marc Anderson for two evenings as part of Open Eye Theatre’s Guest Series. Cars and Caves at the Chanhassen AutoPlex is back in 2024. Starting in April, more than 300 vehicles are on display inside the personalized garage condos (referred to as Caves) on the last Saturday of every month through September and benefits a local non-profit organization.
The annual eight-day community celebration of the music of Duluth includes nearly 200 local musical acts at over 30 venues, a children’s music showcase, poetry, visual art, film, fire spinning, and a kickball game.

The University of Minnesota’s Goldstein Gallery of Design, which is a research center in the U’s College of Design and the only design museum in the Upper Midwest, opens this new exhibit featuring more than 75 items showcasing leather shoes, woolen knitwear, thrown pottery, ceramic tiles, and youth-built boats.
