Minnesota summers abound with free entertainment in the great outdoors. For the second edition of a three-part series, we have highlighted five ways to enjoy nearby natural wonders without breaking the bank.

Stroll along the New Panoway Lakewalk

After 10-plus years of eager planning by the Lake Effect Initiative, Wayzata’s new 1,200-foot-long boardwalk is open to the public. The Panoway Lakewalk stretches across Lake Minnetonka, extending from the Broadway Docks to the Depot Docks, and offers stunning views of the water—perfect for a lakefront stroll.

    Attend a Free Concert

Outdoor concerts have a way of encapsulating the feeling of a perfect summer evening. Head to one of Minneapolis’ Music in the Parks concerts to explore some of the city’s best parks and enjoy local music. Lowertown St. Paul hosts a free concert series of their own every Thursday night in the summer, located at Mears Park. It’s a great opportunity to spend quality time with your community, feeling the shared joy of the music.
