Longtime darling of Duluth and the North Shore brewery scene, this brewery is named for a bent canoe paddle that founder Bryon Tonnis uses to mix his brewing mash and the shared love of canoeing among the founders. 2. Trailtopia

From a breakfast of oats and eggs to an after-dinner dessert of seasonal fruit crisps, Trailtopia is a favorite of foodie campers. Founder Vince Robichaud started his company with a love of being outdoors as well as cooking alongside his mother. He also has collaborated with Bent Paddle Brewing Co. on items. Josh Rude named his design studio as a tribute to his Norwegian family name. Life on the water is in his blood—he met his wife when they were canoe guides in the Boundary Waters, and he even promised to make her a paddle for their engagement.
