Todd Hesemann has announced his candidacy for the District 43A seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Hesemann grew up in Lakefield. He’s been married for 37 years and has three grown children who attended District 281 schools. The 59-year-old is a software engineer in the energy industry. Hesemann has been a member of City Hill Church in Eden Prairie for 36 years. Hesemann has also been a reserve police officer volunteer for 17 years.

He described himself as a “fiscal and cultural conservative.”

Hesemann is running on the Republican ticket and has been endorsed by the Senate District 43 Republicans.

“My main issue is to return to fiscal responsibility,” Hesemann wrote. “An $18 billion surplus means that the state government over-charged citizens, and that money should have been returned to taxpayers. Instead, our legislators increased the size of state government by at least 30% and funded progressive initiatives that average Minnesotans would oppose. This growth in government is not sustainable, and it shows that the current majority is incapable of controlling their spending impulses.”

Hesemann is running for the seat currently occupied by Rep. Cedrick Frazier (DFL-New Hope). District 43A represents all of New Hope and the majority of Crystal.
