Severe storms bringing large hail, damaging wind in Minnesota on Saturday

Another round of severe weather is likely for Minnesota on Saturday, with weather officials large hail and "damaging" winds are the main risk factors.
West-central and southwest Minnesota have the highest risk for severe weather, with heat indices expected to climb to around 100F before storms break out in the afternoon and evening.
"There is still uncertainty on the exact timing and placement in the storms given the recent HiRes models," the NWS forecast discussion reads. "One limiting factor is the lack of forcing together with the fairly stout capping inversion, but the overall environment does support the threat for large hail and damaging winds."
"Low level shear is light, which keeps the tornado threat low," it adds.
Much of central, western and southern Minnesota is in the "slight risk" zone for severe weather, but so is the western Twin Cities metro, with the main threat remaining west of I-35.
Saturday's storm could be followed by more chances for thunderstorms on Sunday into Monday, but those storms are not expected to turn severe.
Monday however will bring a fresh round of rain that ushers in an unseasonably cold week in Minnesota, with the potential of 2-3 inches of rain across much of the affected area, with higher amounts possible locally.
