The Minnesota Vikings finished their two-day joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, with what sounds like many of the same offensive issues that hindered them on day one.

Of course, it doesn’t help when your No. 2 wide receiver. Jordan Addison is in a walking boot and no longer participating in drills or scrimmages. That thanks to an ankle injury he was carted off for , just 24 hours earlier.

KOC: Jordan Addison avoided “major injury”

But after practice, we got some good news. According to what head coach, Kevin O’Connell, told media members, the Minnesota Vikings believe Jordan Addison “avoided major injury”, during yesterday’s scare.

That means we should see the No. 23 overall pick back on the field sooner, rather than later. Luckily, the MRI must’ve come back clean of anything that would be considered a long term injury.

Of course, sprained ankles can be tricky. But if Jordan Addison avoided any type of break, fracture or high ankle sprain, with this injury, it’ll be a football godsend, not just for Addison, but for Kevin O’Connell, Sam Darnold and the Vikings offense, as well.

New Minnesota Vikings LB Blake Cashman undergoes finger surgery

With all of the wide receiver injuries happening yesterday, it seems we missed an injury to former Minnesota Golden Gopher, Blake Cashman, who suffered a pretty major finger injury during day one of joint practices.

O’Connell updated reporters today, noting that Cashman played through the injury all of yesterday, after sustaining it early in the practice. Today, he had surgery on the injured finger. Fortunately, like Addison, his injury/surgery is not considered serious. As soon as the stitches come out, KOC says he’ll be good to go.

“Blake Cashman did sustain a finger injury [Wednesday]. It happened early on in the practice and he somehow played the whole rest of the way. He had a little procedure done. As soon as those stitches and things heal up, Blake will be good to go.”

Cashman (from Eden Prairie) was drafted out of the University of Minnesota by the New York Jets, in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 28-year-old played 44 games in New York, before signing with his hometown Vikings this offseason. He’s expected to start next to Ivan Pace Jr, in Brian Flores’ hybrid 3-4 scheme.

It sounds like both he and Jordan Addison should be ready to go for game one of the regular season. KOC was careful, however, not to say that that the latter will for sure be ready to go. As noted earlier, those ankle sprains can be tricky.
