The Minnesota Twins are waiting for Carlos Correa to return to the lineup, like lost puppies waiting for someone who can bottle-feed them September RBIs, because they cannot find or produce them, without his help.

Fortunately, recent reports suggest that Correa is feeling better, of late. He informed media members, on Monday, of a trip to California, along with painful therapy sessions that have been helping. Carlos also shared that he has been running at a full-sprint three of the last four days.

Carlos Correa has return date in mind… but he hasn’t told the Twins

According to what All-Star shortstop told gathered media members at Target Field yesterday, including Declan Goff (SKOR North) , he even has a theoretical return date, in mind. Whoa, big news, right?

You aren’t the only one surprised. Maybe he’s made things more clear to them since his interview yesterday, but as of this time Monday, the Minnesota Twins had no idea he had any sort of planned return date.

“Correa came up from from early BP and basically looked at a few of us and said, ‘do you guys want an update?’. He told us that he’s undergoing new treatment, that is very painful, that it brings tears to his eyes. It is that painful.

But it’s progressing to the point where he’s been able to sprint three of the last four days. He’s waking up in no pain, and that he has a [return] date in mind. He hasn’t told the team that yet. He hasn’t confirmed that with the team.”

This Correa situation keeps getting weirder for the Minnesota Twins

This Carlos Correa drama gets weirder and weirder. Declan and Darren Wolfson (KSTP) also discuss a recent trip to California, and a procedure he apparently had. During Monday’s media scrum, Correa brought up a recent “procedure” that apparently took place.

After he was the one who first broached the subject, he wouldn’t take follow up questions on said “procedure”. Much like what we’ve seen since July, with the Twins $33 million man, everything about this latest interview was weird. From the way it happened, to the way it proceeded. My red flags are up.

Then, he tells reporters that he already has a return date in-mind, before he says anything to Rocco Baldelli or others in the Minnesota Twins organization? I’m all about keeping knowledge available to the public, but this case seems a bit extreme.

No matter what kind of consternation is happening behind the scenes, the Twins are reportedly working to get Correa, Buxton and other injured teammates (Max Kepler, Manuel Margot) back on the field ASAP. To do so, they’ve called in a few Low-A pitchers to pitch against them in simulated games.

Who knows how much it will help, but it lends to the idea that Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa will be returning to Minnesota’s lineup sooner, rather than later. That’s big news, because they desperately need help.
