It’s officially Week 6 of the NFL season, and the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings are on their bye, giving the team a chance to rest up. Fortunately, this break also benefits running back Aaron Jones. This gives him an extra week to recover from his hip injury without missing any game this week.

During Sunday’s 23-17 win over the New York Jets, Aaron Jones exited the game early and didn’t return. It was later revealed that he had suffered a hip injury.

Following the Vikings’ long flight home from London, we anticipated it would take a few days to get a clear picture of Aaron Jones’ injury. Today, head coach Kevin O’Connell finally shared some updates on the situation.

Aaron Jones continues to be evaluated, but all the early information that we’ve got so far looks like we’ve avoided a long term injury, but I would classify as him as week to week he will get treatment throughout this week and I will give you guys an update where he’s at next week as we kinda hopefully work him back into a, getting involved in practice and leading into whether we’ll have him vs the Lions.

Following their week 6 bye, O’Connell hopes to get Aaron Jones back for Week 7 (Oct. 20) against the Lions . After that, the Minnesota Vikings have a short turnaround four days later, October 24, a Thursday night contest in week 8 vs the Los Angeles Rams . Hopefully, Jones can return vs Detroit. If not, it’s possible we don’t see him again until November 3 (week 9), vs the Indianapolis Colts.
