Williams to Duke

Tobias Williams of Minnetonka, one of Minnesota’s elite track and field athletes, will join the track team at Duke University this fall.

Williams won the 100-meter dash title in the 2023 State Class AAA Meet and will try to repeat this year. He recently set a personal record at the Lake Conference Meet with a 23-foot, 6-inch long jump for first place.

During football last fall, Williams was a shut-down corner back. His speed and athleticism gave him the edge against every receiver he covered.

Olive chooses UNI

Former Edina All-State fastpitch softball player Kay Olive will continue her career at the University of Northern Iowa next season. After helping Edina High to two State Class AAAA Tournament berths, Olive played the last two seasons at North Iowa Area Community College.

Olive led North Iowa with a .472 batting average this year in leading the team to an overall record of 33-23.

The most incredible stat for the former Hornet was her base stealing success. She stole 63 bases in 64 attempts to set a school record.

University of Northern Iowa head coach Ryan Jacobs said, “When you steal 63 bases in one season, you are not only very fast, but also smart and aggressive.”

Olive is also versatile. Her two main positions in high school fastpitch were center field and shortstop.

MSU signs Goldy

Minnetonka girls hockey captain Lauren Goldsworthy was the highest scoring defenseman in Lake Conference girls hockey for the 2023-24 season.

During her senior year, Goldsworthy scored 11 goals and was third on the team with 27 assists.

‘Goldy’ has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her hockey career at Minnesota State University, Mankato next season. She is the daughter of Sean Goldsworthy, head coach of the Minnetonka High boys hockey squad.
